Posted over 5 years ago by Patricia Mccann

Hello please read the letter below penned by Sophie Thomas AANP President. It describes provisions of the CARE Act. The CARE Act includes a provision for APRNs to certify and recertify HH for medicare patients. It has already been passed in the senate and is on its way to the house of representatives. So that APRNs can serve their patients and families more fully I am writing to urge you to contact your senators and representatives and encourage them to pass this historic legislation. Please share this information with your colleagues!
take care to stay healthy!
thank you
Pat McCann APRN CGAPN president
We are on the cusp of a major victory — and we need your help. Last night, the U.S. Senate passed the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act. The legislation, approved by the Senate, includes a provision authorizing nurse practitioners (NPs) to certify and recertify home health care services for Medicare patients, expands funding for personal protective equipment and provides vital funding to respond to the pandemic. This is critically important for the health of the nation and our profession as we combat the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This legislation now moves to the House, and we expect a vote by the chamber soon. It's urgent for House members to hear from NPs today. Please urge the House to act quickly to pass this legislation. I am personally asking each of you to take a moment today to go to the AANP Advocacy Center, send a thank you message to the Senate and urge your Representative in the House to pass this legislation. Together, we are helping patients, our fellow NPs and health care providers across the country.

Let's make sure Congress knows that NPs and all health care providers are counting on them to act at this critical time. Your voice is needed now more than ever.

Sincerely,

Sophia L. Thomas DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PPCNP-BC, FNAP, FAANP
